How to Wash Your Activewear the Right Way

How to Wash Your Activewear the Right Way

Your activewear works hard—so it deserves the right care to keep it looking, feeling, and performing at its best. Washing it properly helps maintain fabric integrity, stretch, and breathability while also being kinder to the planet. Here’s how to do it right.

Step 1: Sort Smart

Before you toss your activewear in the wash, take a moment to separate it from heavy fabrics like denim or towels. Mixing materials can cause friction, leading to pilling and wear. Instead, wash your leggings, sports bras, and tanks with similar performance fabrics.

Step 2: Use Cold Water & a Short Cycle

Heat can break down high-performance fabrics over time, affecting their stretch and sweat-wicking properties. Stick to a cold wash on a short cycle to keep your activewear in top shape.

Step 3: Skip the Bleach & Fabric Softener

Bleach can weaken fibres and cause colours to fade.
Fabric softeners leave a residue that reduces breathability and moisture-wicking performance.

Instead, opt for a mild, eco-friendly detergent that cleans without coating the fabric.

Step 4: Protect Your Gear & the Planet

Activewear made with synthetic fibers can release microplastics during washing. Using a microplastic filter wash bag helps reduce this, extending the life of your gear while minimising environmental impact.

Step 5: Dry with Care

The best way to dry your activewear? Line drying. It preserves elasticity and reduces energy consumption. If you’re short on time, tumble dry on low heat, but avoid high temperatures that can break down fabric over time.

What to Avoid

Soaking – It can weaken fabric elasticity.
Ironing – High heat can damage performance fibres.
Dry cleaning – Harsh chemicals aren’t needed for activewear.

Taking care of your activewear ensures it stays in top shape for longer, especially when you invest in high-quality pieces. If you’re looking for the perfect sets that combine both performance and style, check out our latest collection.
